A biweekly Nature Connection group for kids from age 6 to 14. We alternate between Thursdays and Saturdays, 3pm to 6pm
As the children arrive they can let go of any stresses as they relax into wilderness time and come in to their bodies as nature touches and expands their senses. Through regular sessions, play, community, crafting, nature expereinces, storytelling and mentoring the children develop a sense of place, relationship to the beings that live there, as well as a deeper relationship to themselves and eachother.
Nature Connection
As the children practice nature connection routines, inbedded in games, driven by their curiosity or inspired by story, their neurobiology becomes fully activated, their nervous system relaxes and thier gifts start to shine. Direct experience with nature through all the senses builds relationship which goes deeper when shared with a curious, listening other who guides their awareness further..
Play
We love to play in our sessions. Play is how animals (including humans) learn, neural networks are created and strengthend. Skills such as social skills, emotional inteligence, gross and fine motor skills, creativity and resilience are developed and we get to have a lot of fun together!
Holistic Development
As a “Forest School” leader I consider the whole being is important to develop, social, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual. The woods is the perfect place to meet the children’s developmental needs through play, craft, nature, appropriate supported risk taking, sensory exploration and the leader’s guidance.
