About
A monthly Nature Connection group for kids and teenagers from age 10 to 16. Saturdays 10am – 1pm.
As the participants arrive they can let go of any stresses as they relax into wilderness time and come into thier bodies as nature touches and expands thier senses. Through regular sessions, play, community, crafting, nature expereinces and mentoring the children develop a sense of place, relationships to the beings that live there, as well as a deeper relationship to themselves and eachother.
Nature Connection
As we practice nature connection routines, inbedded in games, driven by thier curiosity or inspired by story, our neurobiology becomes fully activated, our nervous system relaxes and our gifts start to shine. Direct experience with nature through all the senses builds relationship which goes deeper when shared with a curious, listening other who guides their awareness further.
Teens
As children come into thier teenage years nature connection is as importnat as ever! However, a busier life, expectations, trends and technologies can all take over priority, many teenagers are struggling with stress and mental health issues. The woods is just what they need to find balance, as well as being the perfect place to develop qualities that serve them in thier adult life to become leaders for the quickly changing times ahead.
What will we do?
The possibilities are endless and depends on the participants passions and curiosity as well as what the woods are offering on each day and the time of year. Some of the things we can do include; crafing with natural materials such as clay pots, bows and arrows and wooden bowls, cook with wild plants over the fire, stick fighting, tracking, play games, stalking, relaxing in a hammock, hunting eachother, singing round the fire, survival skills and more.
